Description:
In Auschwitz the courtyard between blocks 10 and 11 is concealed from outside view by high walls. This black and grey wall (constructed of special material to absorb the force of gunshots) was built and became the location of thousands of murders, mostly Polish prisoners shot for various reasons. In the yard in front of this wall other punishments were administered by the SS including flogging or hanging prisoners by their arms from special stakes.
